Get The Treatment You Need With Relaxing Sedation Dentistry

Is a fear of the dentist keeping you from having a healthier, more confident smile? For some of us, dental anxiety (or dental phobia)  interferes with our ability to keep up with regular dental appointments or receive necessary care.  At New Image Dental our patients feel at ease in a positive environment designed with their comfort in mind. With our digital technology, conservative treatment and comfortable sedation dentistry, our patients know they can look forward to a gentle and positive dental experience for all of their future appointments.

What is Oral Conscious Sedation?

Needle-less Sedation Dentistry

Oral conscious sedation is typically administered in the form of a pill that is taken at home or in the office about an hour before treatment, or by breathing in a calming nitrous oxide (also known as laughing gas). As the sedative medicine begins to take effect, you will remain awake but feel increasingly relaxed and comfortable. Depending on your specific dental needs, a local anesthetic will be administered to keep you comfortable throughout your procedure.  All patients are closely monitored with a pulse oximeter while here at the office.  Although you will be aware of your surroundings, you will feel a deep sense of calm and relaxation. After treatment we recommend having a close friend or family member drive you home and hang out with you while the medication wears off.

Who Can Benefit From Sedation Dentistry?

Advanced Care With Sedation Dentistry

Oral conscious sedation is as simple as swallowing a small sedative before your appointment. From relieving dental anxiety to keeping you comfortable throughout a long dental procedure, oral sedation is ideal for patients for many reasons:

  • helps patients to overcome their fear of the dentist or dental treatment
  • sedation is in the form of a pill for painless administration
  • ideal for patients who can’t sit still for long or have a sensitive gag reflex
  • treatments may take less time to perform or require fewer visits
  • deep relaxation eliminates pain for a comfortable treatment process
  • patients who have high blood pressure or difficulty getting numb.

How Important is Your Six Month Appointment?

Setting Yourself Up For Success With Regular Checkups

Your six month checkup is the only time your teeth are seen by a professional dentist with certified education and experience in the field. While you may brush, floss and even use mouthwash from time to time, only a dentist or certified hygienist has the special training to examine your dental health and spot small issues that you might not even see! Early detection and prevention is key and might save yourself time and money by preventing further dental issues from developing or worsening over time.

Your Relaxing Visit With Us

Ask Us About Oral Conscious Sedation

While other forms of sedation dentistry such as Intravenous (IV sedation) is administered through a needle and may result in a patient becoming unconscious during the process, our oral conscious sedation lets patients remain conscious as they relax into a calm and sleepy state with the simple use of a pill. If dental anxiety has been a burden for you or your loved ones, give us a call at 619-280-9100 to schedule a consultation! No matter your dental needs, our team at New Image Dental is committed to helping you and your family experience high quality dental care in a relaxed and caring environment.
