5 Important Improvements in Dental Technology

In the dental field, technology continues to evolve rapidly with one goal in mind: making dentistry more comfortable, efficient, and natural looking for the patient.

At New Image Dental, we keep our finger on the pulse of the latest technological developments to help our patients experience the smile of their dreams in optimal dental health. Improvements in dental technology also assist in preventing and diagnosing dental issues early on, which may positively impact both oral and overall health.

Here are just a few examples of the technologies we use to innovate our level of care here at New Image Dental in Mission Valley:

Digital X-rays: Combined into just one comprehensive 3D image, the entire composition of your mouth and teeth is available for immediate review, allowing you and Drs. Leslie and Scott to view a virtual roadmap of your current dental health together.

Digital X-rays enhance the ability to locate, plan for, and treat changes in dental health even before they’re noticeable on the surface. Our digital radiography adds an extra benefit to the patient in that it reduces exposure to radiation when compared to traditional X-rays.

Invisalign with Acceledent: If you have small imperfections in your smile—small gaps in your teeth, crooked teeth, an underbite, overbite, or crowding—Invisalign is a convenient solution. Unlike other orthodontic treatments, Invisalign offers fast results with less mess and less hassle than traditional metal braces. Its efficacy is increased when used in conjunction with Acceledent, a handheld device that utilizes gentle vibration technology to stimulate the gums and teeth to shift into their ideal location at an accelerated rate.

Laser Dentistry: Although the name may raise eyebrows at first, laser dentistry is a minimally invasive, painless treatment for removing excess plaque and treating gum disease. A tiny laser fiber fits between your gum and tooth and uses extreme precision to gently remove pathogenic bacteria and any diseased tissue. If you have periodontitis, or advanced gum disease, this treatment is highly effective and involves little to no discomfort.

CEREC Same Day Dentistry: No more waiting on a lab to create your new teeth! This technology allows us restore your tooth—or teeth—in our own office in just one visit with a beautiful and natural-looking porcelain dental crown. It may also be used to replace one or more teeth with a dental bridge, dental implant or implant-supported denture.

Dental Implants: CEREC can custom design and mill your very own dental crowns to be used along with dental implants or bridges for tooth replacement or to transform your smile with same day dentistry. Imagine fully regaining your ability to eat, speak, laugh and talk comfortably in just one to two visits!
